The second phase of the prestigious gated development of 37 new homes in Norwich city centre has been launched – after the first phase, consisting of 14 new homes sold out just six months after being launched.

 

Blackfriars Gate, which will consist of 21 town houses and 16 apartments on the north side of the river Wensum off St Saviours Lane, was launched in October, with works started on construction in February this year.

 

The second phase of the development was launched for sale at a reception at the nearby King of Hearts, where buyers were able to chat to the developers and agents, and find out the details of the new homes available. Three of the Phase Two homes have already been reserved.

 

The new homes are being developed by Wensum Homes, a joint venture between Jarrold Properties and Bullen Developments Ltd.  Phase Two of the development has seen Savills join Arnolds Keys as joint selling agents.

 

The new homes will combine traditional styling with modern technology, and will be gated to provide privacy and security. Each home will have either a garage or an allocated parking space.

 

Darren Neave, residential manager at Arnolds Keys, said, “There has been very strong demand for these new homes, even before they are built, which is a reflection of their great location and the quality of the homes which are being created.

 

Blackfriars Gate will offer secure living within easy access to the city centre, in a part of the city which has undergone much renovation and regeneration in recent years.

 

The new homes have been designed with a traditional exterior style to harmonise with the historic surroundings in this part of the city, but inside buyers will find all the features you would expect of a modern home.

 

The speed at which Phase One sold out suggests that anyone interested should act quickly to secure a home in Phase Two.”

 

The new development’s name recalls the Blackfriars, an order of Dominican monks who came to Norwich in 1226 and settled in the parish of Coslany.  The name came from the monks’ black robes.  At the beginning of the 14^th century they took over St Andrew’s Hall and the adjoining Blackfriars Hall.

 

Completion of Blackfriars Gate is expected by early 2015.
