John Jarrold Trust supports Arkwright Engineering Scholarship
The John Jarrold Trust Arkwright Engineering Scholarship for 2015 – 2017 was awarded to Matthew Beimborn a student at Wymondham College. Matthew is the 17th student which the Trust has supported through the scheme. Matthew is studying Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science and is hoping to study aeronautics and fluid engineering at Imperial College London or MIT with an ambition to work for a company such as NASA in the USA in the field of astronautical engineering.
The Arkwright Trust aims to identify, inspire and nurture future leaders in Engineering and Technical (as opposed to aesthetic) Design. It does this by awarding Arkwright Engineering Scholarships, through a rigorous selection process, to high-calibre students in year 11. The Engineering Scholarships support students through their A Levels and encourage students to pursue Engineering or Technical Design at university or through a higher-level apprenticeship and to take up careers in the field.
Every Scholarship is sponsored by industrial companies, universities, charitable trusts, trade associations, professional engineering institutions, the Armed Services, Worshipful Companies, industry regulators or personal donors.
The Award was presented by Caroline Jarrold, Secretary to the John Jarrold Trust at an awards ceremony in London on 29 October 2015.
