Structural Award for Jarrold Bridge
On 2nd November the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE) held their annual ‘Structural Awards’. These are the highest accolade for Structural Engineering in the UK, with awards given for national and international projects in 12 categories.
Jarrold Bridge won in the ‘Pedestrian Bridge’ category.
This is a fantastic result, particularly as there was a very strong shortlist this year. Despite being the smallest structure in our category the judges were unanimous in their selection and had some very kind words to say about the bridge:
“This bridge is an outstanding example of innovation, structural efficiency, and aesthetic simplicity. The minimalist internal supports and bold abutments result in a structure that appears to defy structural principles and is extremely eye-catching. It greatly enhances its environment.”
