Charles is CEO of the BPIF, the trade association for the UK printing industry, a role that he has held since 2015. The BPIF supports the UK printing and packaging industry with representation, research and insight, consultancy services and is the major apprenticeship training provider to the sector. After qualifying as a Chartered Accountant, Charles has held senior financial, operational and leadership roles in the print and publishing sector, including United Business Media, US Information services group International Data Group, Southernprint, a subsidiary of publisher Gannet Inc, and print and marketing services group St Ives plc.

Charles is a Governor of Dumpton School in Dorset, Board member of BOSS, the Office Products and Services Association, sits on various print sector Boards and Committees, and is a Liveryman of the Stationers Company.
